About / Bio Romy Vreden (1994) was born in Rotterdam. She graduated from the Acting School in Amsterdam in 2019. Immediately after her graduation, she left to Germany and joined the ensemble of the well known Schauspielhaus Bochum, alongside the artistic director Johan Simons. There, she spent four years mastering German dialects and deepening her ensemble skills, showing herself to be adaptive, disciplined, and collaborative. In 2021 she became one of the regular cast members of the German television show WAPO Duisburg.
Since August 2023 she is working as a freelance actress in Germany and The Netherlands. She made her own production Ruimteplaat and she played in Groundfloor and Stepping Stones at Orkater. Romy also played one of the leading parts in the first Dutch version of the famous play Anatomy of a Suicide (Alice Birch).
Whether in intense psychological dramas, lively ensemble pieces, or innovative musical works, she shines as an actor who is curious, compassionate, and intellectually engaged, driven by a desire to connect honestly.
The NRC chose Romy as the rising star in theatre for 2025.
