About / Bio MAISON the FAUX, founded by Tessa de Boer and Joris Suk, operates at the intersection of fashion, performance and spatial design. Through immersive worlds filled with theatricality, estrangement and excess, the collective explores identity, transformation and alternative ways of being. Their visually bold and maximalist practice blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy, inviting audiences into dream-like universes where meaning is felt rather than explained.
The work of MAISON the FAUX has been presented at institutions and festivals including MU Hybrid Art House, Framer Framed, Felix Meritis, Rewire Festival, Dutch Design Week and Down the Rabbit Hole, as well as fashion weeks in Amsterdam, Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo. Previous collaborations include Centraal Museum, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Kunsthal Rotterdam, Modemuseum Hasselt, Nederlands Fotomuseum, NITE, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Schauspiel Hannover, Staatsoper Hamburg, TanzMainz, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Toneelhuis Antwerp and VPRO.
MAISON the FAUX received the European Design Award and Cultuurfonds Mode Stipendium in 2022, following the Gieskes Strijbis Podiumprijs in 2021.
