About / Bio Eva Heinsbroek (1991) is an Amsterdam based cinematographer with a background in both Film Studies and Psychology from the University of Amsterdam. She later specialized in Cinematography at the Netherlands Film Academy, graduating in 2018. Her unique academic foundation continues to inform her nuanced, emotionally layered approach to visual storytelling.
Eva is celebrated for her sensitive visual language, meticulous attention to detail, and deep affinity for psychological storytelling. Comfortable moving between fiction, documentary, and commercial work, Eva shoots both digitally and on analogue film. Her cinematography extends beyond borders, with projects filmed in Switzerland, Iceland, and Israel.
Both of Eva’s graduation films won the prestigious Wildcard Award for Best Student Film at the Netherlands Film Festival and went on to screen at festivals around the world. Her short fiction Marlon Brando, directed by Vincent Tilanus, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, was selected for TIFF, nominated for a Gouden Kalf, and won several awards including the Go Short VEVAM Award. For the series The Straat, Eva shot the episode Heartbeats, in which lead actress Laura Bakker won a Golden Calf for Best Acting in a Short Film. A testament to Eva’s ability to elevate performance through image.
No matter the format or setting, Eva’s work consistently reflects a quiet intensity and emotional intelligence, making her a rising voice in contemporary cinematography.
