About / Bio Esmay Wagemans (1992) is an Amsterdam-based artist working at the intersection of fashion, technology, and the body. Grounded in feminist and posthumanist thought, her practice explores how technology shapes, transforms, and mediates the human body. Through lifecasting, sculpture, and wearable objects, she creates works that move between autonomous art, installation, performance, and fashion.
Her autonomous work has been presented in exhibitions and presentations including Grand Palais Éphémère (Paris), Cathedral of St. John the Divine (New York), Kunsthal Rotterdam and MEET Digital Culture Centre (Milan). Her sculptural pieces have also appeared in collaborations with fashion brands, artists and cultural institutions such as Gentle Monster, Marc Jacobs, Sevdaliza, Solange, Cardi B, Yseult, MAISON the FAUX and various international opera companies.
Her research extends into writing, including a recent paper on cyborg fashion and the technological gaze for IMAGE Journal. In 2026, Wagemans was selected as a finalist for the Dutch Design Awards Emerging Talent Award.
