About / Bio Ella Amma (1995) is an Amsterdam based screenwriter drawn to stories that explore the emotional complexity of everyday life with warmth, humour and imagination. Working across both live-action and animation, she creates character-driven narratives that make difficult themes accessible without losing their emotional depth.
Ella co-wrote the upcoming reboot of ‘Fort Alpha’ (AVROTROS), which is set to be released soon. She is also the screenwriter of ‘De Baard van Papa’, an animated feature film currently in production, developed through the Zapp Animation Campus, supported by the EO and produced by Family Affair Films. Told from a child’s perspective, the film explores the impact of a father’s depression, combining emotional honesty with hope and imagination.
Whether writing for children or adults, Ella is interested in stories that give voice to complex emotions, invite empathy and spark meaningful conversations. Her work is rooted in the belief that storytelling can help us better understand ourselves and one another.
