About / Bio Shanice Kamminga (1988) is a Dutch screenwriter and director with a love for philosophical, sci-fi and high-concept storytelling. She began her creative journey in acting, living and studying in Los Angeles before gradually shifting her focus to screenwriting and eventually directing. Her background in performance continues to inform her emotionally driven narratives, often set in imaginative or speculative worlds.
In 2021, Shanice was named one of the five winners of the Netflix New Voices Script Contest, selected from over 550 submissions. That same year she also became a semi-finalist in the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ screenwriting competition. Her short film ‘Other’, which she wrote, produced and directed, starred Anna Drijver and featured couture by Iris van Herpen. The film was nominated for the Méliès d’Argent at Imagine Film Festival and drew attention for its striking visual language and ambitious concept.
Alongside her independent work, Shanice has directed commercial campaigns for brands like Coca-Cola, KPN, Booking.com, Philips and Albert Heijn, demonstrating her ability to merge bold cinematic style with effective storytelling across formats.
Currently, Shanice is developing a sci-fi series for Videoland and a feature project in collaboration with Netflix. With a distinctive voice and a commitment to layered, meaningful storytelling, she is quickly establishing herself as a unique talent in the Dutch and international film landscape
