About / Bio Daria Bukvic is a Bosnian-Dutch director, writer and producer for film, theatre and television. She was born in Tuzla in 1989 and fled to The Netherlands at the age of 3 when the war in Yugoslavia broke out. She’s the child of a mixed marriage between a Bosnian Muslim mother and a Croatian Catholic father. She grew up in the south of The Netherlands where she developed a big passion for storytelling. At the age of 17 she got admitted to the prestigious Institute of Performative Arts where she received her Bachelor’s degree in theatre directing. After creating several big Dutch theatre hits, producers NewBe and ROSE stories offered her a shot at directing and co-writing her first feature film ‘Meskina’. A modern and feminist romantic comedy about a young Morrocan-Dutch woman navigating her way through the expectations of others and her own desires. At the moment Bukvic is also working as a creative producer on the first season of her television series ‘ZINA’, expected to air on Dutch television in November 2021. Bukvic is also the artistic director of Toneelgroep Oostpool, a national theatre company based in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
